I missed the Fraenkel Gallery show, but I did see a show called “Wild Beauty” at the Portland Art Museum, on turn of the century photographs of the Columbia River Gorge. My favorite prints were from Carlton Watkins. I absolutely love his work and he is very much an inspiration. I am very tickled that you find a connection there.

These are actually not 4×5, but are from my Polaroid Big Swinger with Fuji instant film, size 3.25×4.25. I noticed that you shoot 4×5 pinhole, which I enjoy as well. Your work article is wonderful, btw. Thank you for the comment.

I love that you are shooting Polaroid. All of my work was done with Polaroid T-55 until it disappeared. I do still have a stash of it hidden in my studio…saving it for a rainy day. I really enjoy your blog as well. I’m a big fan of found photos. I’ll keep checking back to see what you have found!

Western landscape photographers! Did you get a chance to see the Carleton Watkins show at Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco? I’m curious to know what format you are shooting– 4 x 5? Keep up the great work!
